Why You NEED Bulletproof Coffee

Bulletproof coffee. Have you heard of it? I remember the first time I ever heard someone suggest I put butter in my coffee. And then blend it.

Yes. You heard that correctly. BUTTER.

Bleh.

Butter isn't even good for you, right? WRONG.

So wrong.

I was so wrong for so long, and I didn't even know it. But here's the thing;

Butter, grass-fed butter, totally rocks.

It's full of healthy fats!!! Great for your teeth and body overall. Should you consume it in huge amounts? Probably not. Should you consume a teaspoon of it in your coffee? Definitely.

Do I add more than a teaspoon into my coffee at times? Highly likely.

Do I care? Nope.

I'm going to give you my personal recipe at the end, but first - I'm going to tell you a secret.

I sort of avoided fats my whole life because I was under the impression that eating fat (healthy fat) made you...well....fat.

I didn't understand.

Your body actually NEEDS fat.

A few months ago, I totally embraced fat. Avocados, MCT oil, coconut oil, BUTTER, nuts, NUT BUTTER, everything. I didn't over consume, but I also didn't hold back.

You wanna know what happened?

I lost weight.

Like 3 pounds. In the first week.

Our bodies (and brains) NEED fat in order to function properly. When we DON'T have fat - our body grasps on to whatever fat we have on our body currently and STORES it. It won't release the fat because it literally thinks it's starving.

Interesting, huh?

Theres a whole lot of science behind this. Look into it if you feel, this is just a super quick rundown of why YOU should consider adding healthy fats to your diet!

Now, back on track. Bulletproof coffee. My husband and I have become obsessed. I'm a huge coffee fan. Love lattes. Love blended drinks. Basically love all of it.

But bulletproof coffee has been a GAME CHANGER for me.

I will link all the products that I use in my ingredient list below. So all you need to do is click them - and it will bring you exactly where you need to be to order your items for your bulletproof coffee. After I explain how to make it - I will explain WHY all the ingredients are in there.

voila!

You should know: I rarely measure anything - so these are approximate measurements. Feel free to tweak it however you wish!

Amy's Bulletproof Coffee:
8oz boiling water
Packet of Coffee
1 teaspoon Butter
1 teaspoon Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil
1 Capsule Organic Ceylon Cinnamon
1 tablespoon Almond Milk Creamer

Make the coffee per directions. You can use any coffee that you like! I have been LOVING the chaga coffee lately, so that is my go to. Aldi also has an awesome organic coffee from Honduras that is a close 2nd favorite in this house. Add all the other ingredients into your coffee. Blend for 10 seconds in a blender, and enjoy! It will get frothy and delicious!

Coconut oil is another healthy fat. Your bulletproof coffee will be delicious with or without it, but hey - life is always better with a little added coconut oil - so why not?! Ceylon cinnamon is basically cinnamon with a lot of health benefits. It can lower blood sugar, reduce the risk of heart disease, it's anti inflammatory, anti bacterial, can help thin your blood, improves blood lipid profile, and more! Plus it adds a great flavor! The creamer is just in there because I always add creamer to my coffee. If you enjoy your coffee without creamer - go ahead and skip that step!

If you decide to give bulletproof coffee a try - or if you are already a fan - LET ME KNOW! I would love to hear your feedback!
